Funeral services for Harold H. McGuire, age 92, of Cambridge, will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Thursday, April 5, 2007 at Strike Funeral Home Isanti Chapel with Rev. Valerie Brown-Greenly officiating. A visitation will be held from 5-8 PM Wednesday and also 1 hour prior to the service Thursday at the funeral home in Isanti. Interment will be in Isanti Union Cemetery with Military Honors provided by the Isanti VFW Post.
Harold H. McGuire, age 92, of Cambridge died peacefully at his home on Monday, April 2, 2007.
Harold Herbert McGuire was born October 9, 1914 at Brainerd, Minnesota to John and Armilia McGuire. He was raised in the Brainerd and Little Falls areas. Harold later moved to Montana where he worked on a turkey farm and also drove heavy equipment at the Billings airport. In August of 1941 Harold entered the U.S. Army, serving his country in WWII at the Aleutian Islands, East Mandates, Southern Philippines and Ryukyus. In October of 1945 he was honorably discharged after receiving the Asiatic Pacific Theater Service Medal, American Defense Service Medal, Philippians Liberation Ribbon with Two Bronze Stars, and four Overseas Service Bars.
In 1947 Harold was united in marriage to Mary Hanych. They lived in Minneapolis until they moved to rural Cambridge in 1959 where they made their home for the rest of their lives. Harold was a hard worker and a very active person who loved life. He enjoyed heavy equipment and trucks, and camping. He also loved music and listened to Polka and played the accordion and banjo.
Harold will be lovingly remembered by his daughter, Beverly Nelson and her husband Steve of Cambridge; son, Bruce McGuire and his wife Linda of Lindstrom; two grandchildren, Mark McGuire and Shawn Nelson; four great-grandchildren, Courtney, Carmen, Clouie and Andrew; by other relatives and friends.
Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Mary, granddaughter, Michelle McGuire, and great-granddaughter, Candyce Nelson.
