Herman B. Hensel, age 96, of Cambridge passed away peacefully November 22, 2007 at Cambridge Medical Center. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Monday, November 26th at Faith Lutheran Church in Isanti with Pastor Valerie Brown-Greenly officiating. A visitation will be held 1 hour prior to the service at the church. Pallbearers will be Brent Hensel, Corey Hensel, Joe Widell and Kevin Chinnock. Interment will be in Athens Lutheran Cemetery.
Herman Bernard Hensel was born January 28, 1911 at Prior Township, Minnesota to Ernest and Theresa (Buthe) Hensel. On October 1, 1935 Herman was united in marriage to Frances Carls and they made their home on a farm in South Dakota for 10 years. They then moved to Mayer, Minnesota where they operated a dairy farm until moving to a farm in Milaca. In 1964 they moved to the Cambridge area where they remained the rest of their lives.
Herman overcame many hardships in his life. He was a hard working, devoted man with a big heart. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and also enjoyed gardening, playing cards and dancing. Family was very important to him and he especially loved fishing with his wife. Herman did everything together with his wife, Frances, and will be happy to be joined together again.
Herman Hensel passed away peacefully November 22, 2007 at Cambridge Medical Center at the age of 96 years, 9 months and 25 days. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his loving wife of 67 years, Frances; by four brothers, Fred, Frank, Ernest and Earl Hensel; five sisters, Margaret Determan, Mary Rosbach, Dorothy Wiggand, Bertha Tucker and Gertrude Hensel; and by two grandchildren, David Hensel and Sheryl Bartholomew.
Herman will be lovingly remembered by his five children, Robert (Joyce) Hensel of Clear Lake, Dwayne (Kay) Hensel of Cold Spring, Francine Martin of Cambridge, Theresa (Jerry) Carpenter of Pine Springs, and Darald (Mary Ann) Hensel of Shoreview; one sister, Theresa Ferrero of Virden, Illinois; seven grandchildren, Gregg, Brent, Michelle, Corey, Jennifer, Sarah, and Caroline; ten great-grandchildren, Zachary, Nathan, Scott, Sarah, Jacob, Patrick, William, Noelle, Kaitlyn, and Samantha; by other relatives and friends.
