Jean Blenkush, age 79, of Isanti passed away November 2, 2007 at Cambridge Health Care Center. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Tuesday, November 6th at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church in Isanti with Father Jose Edayadiyil as Celebrant. A visitation will be held from 4:00 – 8:00 P.M. on Monday, November 5th at Strike Funeral Home – Isanti Chapel with a prayer service at 7:30. Interment will be in St. Stephen Catholic Cemetery in St. Stephen, MN.
Jean Delilah Blenkush was born May 7, 1928 in Minneapolis to Leon and Delilah Knoke. She was raised in Minneapolis and graduated from South High School. On June 30, 1950 she married Marlan R. Hagstrom. They made their home in Minneapolis and would become the parents of 4 daughters. On October 16, 1974 she married the love of her life, Claude Blenkush. They made their home in Minneapolis until Claude’s retirement. They then built their retirement home on the Rum River in Isanti in 1979. Jean was a member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church in Isanti. She enjoyed doing crossword puzzles, needlework, crocheting, sewing and they also traveled extensively. In 1989 Jean had a brain tumor removed and has been disabled since that time. Four years ago they moved from their home to a condo in Isanti. Her husband, Claude, took loving care of her until she had to go to a nursing home a year-and-a-half ago.
Jean passed away on November 2, 2007 at the Cambridge Health Care Center at the age of 79 years, 5 months and 25 days. She was preceded in death by her parents, Leon and Delilah; 2 brothers, Marine and Edward; and step-son, Joe.
Jean is survived by her 4 daughters, Marlys (Mike), Mary, Julie (Mike), Beth (Perry); 10 grandsons; 2 granddaughters; 8 great-grandsons; 3 great-granddaughters; 9 step children and their families; and by many other relatives and friends.
