Virgil “Van” Vandeberg, age 91, of Cambridge passed away December 31, 2007 at Grandview Christian Home in Cambridge. Funeral services will be held at 7:00 P.M. on Thursday, January 3rd at Strike Funeral Home – Isanti Chapel with Father Joseph Vandeberg as Celebrant. A visitation will be held from 4:00 until the time of service Thursday. Interment will be in St. Michael Catholic Cemetery in Ray, North Dakota.
Virgil “Van” Vandeberg, age 91, of Cambridge passed away on December 31, 2007 at Grandview Christian Home in Cambridge. Virgil was born September 27, 1916 at Epping, North Dakota to Mathias and Lucy Vandeberg. He attended schools at Epping, ND and college seminary at Richardton Abbey, ND. He later served in the CCC and in the US Army with the 776th Tank Destroyer Battalion in North Africa and Cassino, Italy.
Virgil worked for the Northern Pacific/Burlington Northern railroad and the Cambridge State Hospital. He was a long time resident of Cambridge, MN and a member of Christ the King Catholic Church.
He enjoyed watching Wrestling and caring for his cats.
Virgil was preceded in death by his parents Lucy Ann (Goldthorpe) and Mathias J. Vandeberg; brothers John, Cyril and Vernon. He is survived by his sister Marcella Beckman (Solanus Beach, CA); and sisters-in-law Annie (Missoula, MT) and Mary (White Bear Lake, MN); and 27 nieces and nephews.
