Fern Lillian Johnson (Bodfors), age 89, of Cambridge passed away March 13, 2008 at Grandview Christian Home in Cambridge. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Tuesday, March 18th at Cambridge Lutheran Church with Pastor David Everett officiating. A visitation will be held 1 hour prior to the funeral at the church. Interment will be in the church cemetery.
Fern Lillian Johnson was born August 17, 1918 in Stanchfield Township, Isanti County, Minnesota to Carl and Hulda (Soderman) Bodfors. Their family lived at the home of her birth for a while and then moved to the Walbo area where she started school. In 1927 they moved to a farm West of Cambridge and she went to West Riverside School through the 8th grade. When Fern was 15 years old her mother passed away and Fern helped her father on the farm until he passed away. In 1969 Fern married Martin Johnson and they made their home on the Bodfors farm for 25 years. Fern live in Isanti County all of her life and was a life long member of Cambridge Lutheran Church. She was baptized, confirmed, married and now buried from the church.
Fern had a special wit and lots of clever sayings and phrases. She was a kind and gentle person and she loved the outdoors. Fern was a special person who was lovedand will be missed by many.
She is survived by step-children; Darrell Johnson of Cambridge, Larry Johnson of Tennessee, and Violet Tillman of Washington State; step-daughter-in-law, Juanita Johnson Sate of Virginia; cousins, Karen O’Bryan of Cambridge, Sharon Ward of Washington State, and Donald Aalbers of Bloomington; several step-grandchildren; and many special friends in the Cambridge area.
Fern was preceded in death by her parents, Carl “Charlie” and Hulda Bodfors, by her husband, Martin, and by twin sisters in infancy.
