Hattie Deskins, age 91, passed away April 12, 2008 unexpectedly at her home in Isanti. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Thursday, April 17th at Spencer Brook United Methodist Church with Pastor Diane Nelson officiating. A visitation will be held from 4:00 – 8:00 P.M. on Wednesday, April 16th at Strike Funeral Home – Isanti Chapel and also 1hr prior to the service at the church. Interment will be at Orchard Beach Cemetery in Rice Lake, Wisconsin.
Hattie Anne Deskins was born October 27, 1916 in Monroe, Wisconsin to Edward John and Laura Gaumitz. Her family moved to the Rice Lake, Wisconsin area while she was still a baby. She grew up in Rice Lake, attended school there, and graduated from Rice Lake High School. On June 16, 1935 she married Rinal Deskins. Four children were born to them; 2 boys, Roger and Larry and 2 girls, Karen and Donna. They lived on a farm near Haugen, Wisconsin until 1952 when they moved to White Bear Lake, Minnesota. In 1965 they moved to Zimmerman and later to Isanti. Hattie was active in the Spencer Brook United Methodist Church and the Isanti Happy Seniors, where she served as both president and vice-president for several years. Her hobbies consisted of flower gardening, house plants, reading and working puzzles.
Hattie passed away unexpectedly at her home on April 12, 2008 at the age of 91 years, 5 months and 15 days. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Rinal; her 2 sons, Roger and Larry; 2 brothers, Harold and Louie Gaumitz; and by 3 sisters, Irene Paul, Helen Linton and Ruby Butzler.
Hattie will be lovingly remembered by her 2 daughters, Karen Boylan of Isanti and Donna (Edward) Sanden of East Bethel; 7 grandchildren, Pamela (Mark) Van Cura, Carl (Laurie) Boylan, James (Crystal) Boylan, Kia Sanden, Michael (Anne) Sanden, Laura Sanden, James Sanden; 10 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-grandchildren; and by many other relatives and friends.
