When he was 14 years old his family moved to Klamath Falls, Oregon. When he was 18 years old he was drafted into the Army out of high school and served in World War II from 1944 1946. The military was a very important part of his life because during battle he committed his life to serve the Lord. After the service he attended Bethel College in St. Paul. On August 14, 1948 he married Bette Rask. Gordon attended and graduated from St. Cloud State in 1958. While attending college they served as pastor of Hillman Baptist Church, Mora. They then served many churches: Clearbrook, Minnesota; Evergreen, Colorado where he planted a new church; Sandy Lake Baptist Church in Barnum; Isle Baptist Church; and then Faith Baptist Church in Grand Rapids, Minnesota. He also served one year in Home Missions.
In earlier years he enjoyed canoeing and cross country skiing. Gordy loved his family, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren and all of the family activities. He was a Prayer Warrior and he loved the church dearly. Gordon will be deeply missed by all.
