Lawrence A. Barnier, age 87, of Nowthen passed away on November 15, 2008. Funeral services will be at 10:00 A.M. on Thursday, November 20th at Maranatha Assembly of God in Forest Lake with Pastor Michael Hazeltine officiating. A time for visiting will be 1 hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be in Fort Snelling National Cemetery.
Lawrence Andrew Barnier was born August 18, 1921 at Bainville, Montana to Julian and Mary (Beaulieu) Barnier. He was raised and attended school in Bainville. Lawrence farmed and then enlisted at age 21 in the Navy, serving his country during WWII. On January 29, 1945 he married Kathryn Esther Ritter in Wolf Point, Montana. They made their home in Bainville and in 1965 they moved to Coon Rapids, Minnesota. Lawrence worked in underground construction and tunneling. After retiring in 1982 they moved back to Bainville.
On March 13th of this year Kathryn passed away. A short time later he moved to Nowthen to live with his grandson, Andrew Olson and his wife Heidi. They gave loving care to him through his trials with failing health. Lawrence loved his family and he had a passion for horses. He also enjoyed gardening and woodworking.
Lawrencepassed awaySaturday, November 15, 2008 at home at the age of 87 years, 2 months and 27 days. He was preceded in death by his parents, by his wife, Kathryn, and by seven siblings.
Lawrence is survived by his six children, Shirley (Ollie) Mogensen of Isanti, Sue (Rob) Robinson of Port St. Lucie, Florida, Larry (Paulette) Barnier of Coon Rapids, Jerry (Lynda) Barnier of Walker, Barb (Randy) Olson of Anoka, and Gary (Sue) Barnier of Westminster, Massachusetts; one brother, Albert Barnier of Missoula, Montana; one sister, Lucille Rebo of Marysville, Washington; by 11 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, by other relatives and friends.
