Doris Armstrong, age 78, of Mora passed away January 22, 2009 at GracePointe Crossing – Gables West, in Cambridge. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Sunday, January 25th at Strike Funeral Home – Isanti Chapel with Pastor Howard Skulstad officiating. A time of visiting will be held 1 hour prior to the service.
Doris Selina Armstrong was born June 19, 1930 in Alden, Polk County, Wisconsin to Earle and Stella Knutson. Her family moved to Blackduck, Minnesota where she was raised and graduated from Blackduck High School. Doris married Russell Armstrong on October 6, 1948. They made their home in Murdock for several years. They moved to Mora in 1986 where she has since made her home. Doris worked in quality control at Fingerhut in Benson for several years. She was an avid gardener and was a master gardener with her flowers. Her home in Mora was a showpiece with all of her flower gardens. Doris especially loved her family and grandchildren and their time together. She was also a seamstress, she enjoyed reading and old time music and she was a very thrifty woman.
Doris passed away on January 22, 2009 at GracePointe Crossing West in Cambridge at the age of 78 years, 7 months and 3 days. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Russell in 2003 and by two sisters.
Doris is survived by her four daughters, Rebecca Armstrong of Mora, Susan (Rick) Gimberlin of Morris, Robin (Dan) Lindquist of Wayzata, Bonny (Dennis) Clements of Isanti; 10 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; three brothers, Robert (Ruth) Knutson of Anchorage, Alaska, Kenneth (Irene) Knutson of Waupaca, Wisconsin, Lloyd Knutson of Osseo; one sister, Emmy Bohannon of Hilo, Hawaii; and by other relatives and friends.
