Kathryn Minnie Baar, age 78, of Cambridge passed away January 25, 2009 at Cambridge Medical Center. A time for visiting and celebrating her life will be held from 1:00 – 4:00 P.M. on Tuesday, January 27th at Strike Funeral Home – Cambridge Chapel.Interment will be in East Bradford Cemetery.
Kathryn Minnie Baar was born March 27, 1930 in Le Center, Minnesota to Elmer and Myrtle (Huro) Dalaska. She grew up in St. Paul and attended Monroe School. On June 26, 1948 she married Dean Baar in Minneapolis. To this union two sons were born, Terry and Steven. They made their home in Bloomington and in 1965 they moved to Bradford Township. After Dean retired, Kathryn and Dean moved to Detroit Lakes where they enjoyed their lake home. In 1999 they moved to Cambridge and Kathryn has lived at Grandview-GracePointe Crossing for the last year. Kathryn really enjoyed the care workers and other residents at Grandview. Their friendship and companionship were greatly appreciated.
Kathryn loved watching wildlife especially the deer and birds. She also enjoyed going on vacations and drives with Dean. Kathryn especially loved the company of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was proud of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and spoke of them often.
She will be lovingly remembered by her two sons; Terry (Barb) Baar of Isanti, Steven (Pam) Baar of Red Wing; one brother, Maynard Derksen of Willmar; two sisters, Marlys Achartz of St. Paul, Gladys (Joe) Adrian of Glenco; four grandchildren, Brian (Rachel) Baar, Dan (Amy) Baar, Sondra Baar, and Heidi (Scott) Haldeman; three great-grandchildren, Anna, Nathan and Gavin Baar; and by other relatives and friends.
Kathryn was preceded in death by her parents, by her husband, Dean in 2004, and by one brother, Kenny Dalaska.
