Paul Augustus Smith was born October 24, 1921 in Randolph County, Alabama to Augustus and Beulah Smith. He was raised and attended school in LaGrange, GA where he held track records. Paul served in the Navy during World War II and loved to tell stories about it. After his military service, through business travels, he met and married Vivian Tyson on February 14, 1948 in North Carolina. They made their first home in North Carolina and then a few years later they moved to Atlanta, Georgia. Paul’s wife died on May 8, 1984. Paul moved to Cambridge in 2004. He especially enjoyed his children and grandchildren’s visits and regaling them with his life stories. He enjoyed watching old western movies; skeet shooting and he also had a wicked sense of humor and was an avid pet lover.
Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Vivian; son, Alan Wayne Smith; and brother, Tommie. Paul is survived by his daughter, Tyanne Smith of Plymouth, 4 grandchildren, April, Amy, Maria and Bleys; 3 great-grandchildren, Hunter, Brady and Jonah; and by other relatives and friends.
