Ted Fixell, age 85, of Isanti died July 16, 2010 at Mercy Hospital in Coon Rapids. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Monday, July 19, 2010 at Long Lake Lutheran Church in Isanti with Rev. Dave Solberg officiating. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be in Cambridge Lutheran Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to Long Lake Lutheran Church.
Ted Daniel Fixell was born March 15, 1925 in Springvale Township, Isanti County, Minnesota to Daniel and Ethel (Krona) Fixell. He grew up in Springvale and attended District 51 School and graduated from Cambridge High School in 1942. Ted then served his country in the US Navy during WWII. On February 28, 1947 he was united in marriage to Shirley Holmes at Cambridge Lutheran Church. They made their home in Robbinsdale for over 30 years. Ted worked as a Superintendent of Building Maintenance at the main US Post Office in Minneapolis. After retiringhe built a home on German Lake in rural Isanti where they have lived ever since. Ted was an active member of Long Lake Lutheran Church for many years. He was also a member of the Cambridge American Legion Post. Ted enjoyed gardening, fishing, woodworking, playing cards with his friends,and seeing his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Ted is survived by his loving wife, Shirley of Isanti; son, Craig (Sandra) Fixell of Blaine; brother, Gary (Darlene) Fixell of Cambridge; two grandchildren, Carolynn (Kent) Kiewatt and Brian (Danielle) Fixell; four great-grandchildren, Claire, Allison, Lucas and Emily; and by other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and by two sisters, Doris Korsgren and Erma Lundgren.
