Clayton Lindgren, age 87, of Lindstrom and formerly of the Cambridge-Isanti area, died August 20, 2010 at his home. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, August 28th at Trinity Lutheran Church in Lindstrom with Rev. Paul Bjorklund officiating. A time for visiting will be held one hour prior to the service at the church.
Clayton Wayne Lindgren was born October 3, 1922 in Anoka to Werner and Elsie Lindgren. He was raised in rural Isanti and graduated from Cambridge High School, Class of 1942. On August 16, 1942 he married Marjorie Thunstrom and they made their home in Cambridge. Two years later they moved to Sleepy Eye before moving back to Cambridge four years later. Clayton farmed and then owned and operated Chris-Wick Food Locker in Cambridge. He later worked for Lunds in Minneapolis and he retired from Lunds in 1983. Clayton’s wife, Marjorie died in 1982. On July 22, 1983 he married Lois Wickberg and they made their home in South St. Paul, later moving to Chetek, Wisconsin. They moved to Lindstrom in 1999. Clayton loved the outdoors, gardening, flowers, hunting and fishing. He enjoyed fixing anything and would always help anyone. He also enjoyed watching the Twins and the Green Bay Packers.
Clayton Lindgren died August 20, 2010 at his home at the age of 87 years, 10 months and 17 days. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Marjorie; grandson, Patrick; brothers, Curt and Ted; step-son, Jim.
He is survived by his wife, Lois of Lindstrom; four children, Julie (David) Davis of Stanchfield, Gary (Cheryl) Lindgren of Cambridge, Steve (Mary) Lindgren of Spring Vale, Janet (Dallas) Sundermeyer of Stanchfield; step-son, Ken Wickberg of St. Paul Park; 13 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; one great-great granddaughter; one sister, Joyce (Bob) Moser of Circle Pines; and by many other relatives and friends.
