Richard L. Erickson, age 87, of Princeton Passed away January, 11, 2011 at the Elim Home in Princeton. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, January 15th at Elim Baptist Church in Anoka with Pastor John Tuttle officiating. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be in Athens Lutheran Cemetery in Isanti.
Richard Laurence Erickson was born August 6, 1923 in Isanti, Minnesota to Albin and Ida (Nelson) Erickson. He attended District 20 School in Isanti and then Cambridge High School, graduating in 1943. On February 15, 1947 he married Mae Hegman at Faith Lutheran Church in Isanti and they made their home in Minneapolis. In 1952 they built a home in Blaine and in 1982 moved to Lindstrom. They moved into an assisted care facility in Champlain in 2005 and have resided at the Elim Home in Princeton since 2008.
Richard worked on his dad’s farm for two years after high school, at Midland Company for seven years and at Minnegasco as an auto mechanic until he retired in 1982. He enjoyed working on friends cars in his spare time and took pride in his wood working. He was very friendly and liked people. He was a member of Spring Lake Baptist Church and later attended Chisago Lakes Baptist and Elim Baptist in Anoka. Richard also liked watching college sports as well as the Twins, Vikings and Wild. Richard enjoyed Bible prophecy studies and lived with the hope of eternity with Jesus Christ. He is with the Lord and will be greatly missed.
Richard Erickson passed away January 11, 2011 at the Elim Home in Princeton at the age of 87 years, 5 months and 5 days. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by two sisters, Alzina Johnson and Ruth Peterson.
Richard is survived by his wife, Mae, of Princeton; daughter, Bonnie (Gary) Rueckert of Ramsey; sister, Irene (Doug) Hoybook of Blaine; three grandchildren, Lena (Andrew) Shum of Fez, Morocco, Amy (Jeremy) Engeberg of Anchorage, Alaska, and Ryan Rueckert of Roseville; five great-grandchildren, Hannah, Karin, Jenna, Asher and Ezra; and by other relatives and friends.
