David K. Packer, age 86, of Cedar died July 18, 2011 at Our Lady of Peace Care Home in St. Paul. A visitation time to honor his life will be held from 5:00 – 8:00 P.M. Thursday, July 21st at Strike Funeral Home – Isanti Chapel.
David Kennedy Packer was born May 24, 1925 in Lincoln, England to James and Agnes (Cunningham) Packer. He was raised in England and served 21 years in the British Army. On April 2, 1949 he married Kathleen Stott in England. In 1963 he came to the United States and settled in Spring Lake Park. On January 20, 1968 he married Ione Cookie Cook and they made their home in Fridley. They moved to Cedar 39 years ago. David retired after 25 years from Central Engineering in St. Anthony. His hobbies and interests included woodworking, making bird houses, bird watching and doing crossword puzzles.
David Packer died July 18, 2011 at Our Lady of Peace Care Home in St. Paul at the age of 86 years, 1 month and 24 days. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his two wives, Kathleen and Cookie; one brother and two sisters.
David is survived by five children, Jeri (Chris) Woods of Tacoma, Washington, Winnie (Georgian) Banov of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, Paul (Peggy) Cook of Brooklyn Park, Carrol (Ron) Lubich of Lakeville, Lyn (Jim) Holker of Brooklyn Park; by 11 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and by many other relatives and friends.
