Virginia Mae Smith, age 81, of Braham, died August 5, 2011 at the Health and Rehab Center in New Brighton. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Friday, August 12th at Stanchfield Baptist Church with Pastor Dale Cope officiating. A time for visiting will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be in Royalton Memorial Cemetery.
Virginia Mae Smith was born May 19, 1930 at Maternity Hospital in Minneapolis, Minnesota to Henry and Mabel (Walberg) Strelow. She grew up in the Greely and Stanchfield areas. Virginia married Harold Smith and they were blessed with five children, Dennis, Wallace, Linda, Perry and David. They raised their family on a dairy farm east of Milaca. In 1990 Virginia moved to Braham where she made her home until she needed more health care and moved into the nursing home several years ago. In her younger years she loved riding horses and she also had a large garden. Her faith was very important to her throughout her life.
Virginia Smith passed away August 5, 2011 at the Health and Rehab Center in New Brighton at the age of 81 years, 2 months and 17 days. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by one son, Wallace, and one brother, Kenneth.
Virginia is survived by four children, Dennis Smith of Granite Falls, Linda (Frank) Belanger of Ogilvie, Perry (Brenda) Smith of Brook Park, and David (Leanne) Smith of Milaca; three siblings, George Strelow of Brecksville, Ohio, Lucille Rodin of Minneapolis, and Wilbert (Charlotte) Strelow of Cambridge; 5 grandchildren, Jeremey, Valoree, Jaclyn, Justin and Aaron,; 7 great-grandchildren, Andrew, Evan, Spencer, Jonas, Joshua, Jesse and Kyla; and by other relatives and friends.
