Marion Carlson, age 94, of Oak Grove/Cedar died at her home on November 23, 2011. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Wednesday, November 30, 2011 at West Bethel United Methodist Church with Rev. James McChesney officiating. Visitation will be from 4 – 8 PM on Tuesday, November 29th AT THE CHURCH. Interment will be in Oak Leaf Cemetery in East Bethel.
Marion was born Mar. 13, 1917 in Harmony, MN to Jacob and Carrie Strand. Marion was a graduate of St. Cloud State Teachers College and taught primary school in Bejou, Eyota, Lake City, and Rochester, MN, then Whitefish Bay, WI, Winona State Teachers College Model School, Brooklyn Center and St. Francis, MN. She was the organist at West Bethel UMC and St. Francis UMC. Marion enjoyed being a piano teacher during her retirement years. Faith, family, music and education were the most special things in her life.
Marion Isabel Strand Carlson passed away peacefully at home in her sleep November 23, 2011 at the age of 94 years, 8 months and 10 days. She was preceded in death by husband Arthur Carlson, her parents, brother Arthur Strand and sister Bessie Blatchly.
She is survived by sons Jacoby (Bev Kelley), Oak Grove, Diek, Superior, WI, Achim (Wendy), Brooklyn Park; daughters Chris (Bruce) Beaubien, Oakdale, Renee Anderson, Brooklyn Park, Heidi (Marc Blackburn) Severson, Duluth; sisters Helen Strand, Oak Grove and Elizabeth (Dale) Reishus, East Palatka, FL. 4 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
