Kathryn M. Long, age 93,life long resident of White Bear Lake, died April 10, 2012 at Cambridge Medical Center. A graveside service will be held at Union Cemetery in White Bear Lake at a date to be determined in May. Date will be posted on our web site when set.
Kathryn and her now deceased husband, Carl E. Long, resided at 204 South Lake Avenue for 54 years and moved to 2477 Gisella Boulevard in 1995 when they became first time home owners at the age of 79. Kathryn was the last surviving of offspring of Herbert Frederick Schmidt and his wife Anna (Evgen) who also were lifelong residents of White Bear Lake residing at 510 Division Avenue. Kathryn was preceded in death by siblings Orpha (Harold Engen), Verle and Duane, all of White Bear Lake. Despite a life long battle with Agoraphobia she managed to work for Dr. Kappel (DDS) in White Bear Lake, John and Gladys Lundgren; White Bear Hardware, manage the White Bear VFW Post 1782 and serve as the President of the Posts Auxiliary.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Carl E. Long, whose parents Elmer and Hilda Long and Grandparents Franklin and Lena were also life long residents of White Bear Lake.
Kathryn will be remembered by her son Allyn and his wife Sharon along with grandson Scott, granddaughter Michelle, great-granddaughter Bethany, great-grandson Connor and many nieces, nephews and friends.
