Jerome J. Schunk, age 83, died peacefully July 11, 2012 at his home in Florida. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, September 1st at Isanti Union Cemetery with Father Jose Edayadiyil officiating. A gathering time and lunch will follow the service at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church in Isanti. Military Honors provided by Isanti VFW.
Jerome John Schunk was born May 1, 1929 to Albert and Anna (Jenniges) Schunk. He served in the Army for six years and received commendations for service in Korea and Japan. He was united in marriage to Mary Walter on July 30, 1955. They made their home in Bloomington where their five children were born. In 1969 he retired from the Postal Service and they moved to Isanti where he owned and operated Schunk’s Variety for 14 years. They retired to Florida but spent many summers in Isanti.
Jerome died July 11, 2012 at his home in Florida at the age of 83 years, 2 months and 10 days. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Kevin; two brothers and one sister.
He will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Mary; sons, Steve (Beth) of Battle Lake, MN, Allen of Port Richey, FL; daughters, Val (Barry) Call of Palmetto, FL, Natalie Schunk (Mike Painter) of Sweeny, TX; daughter-in-law, Corrine Schunk of Isanti; grandchildren, Carrie (Matt) Hawkins of Fargo, ND, Katie Schunk and Anna Schunk both of Bradenton, FL, Seth Meyers of Sweeny, TX and Brittany Call of Searcy, AK.
