John Kovatch Jr, age 76, of Cedar died October 8, 2012 at Camila Rose Care Center in Coon Rapids. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, October 13th at Strike Funeral Home – Isanti Chapel. A vistiation will be held one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in Athens Lutheran Cemetery with Military Honors provided by the Isanti VFW Post.
John Kovatch, Jr. was born December 27, 1935 in St. Michael, North Dakota to John and Mary (Houle) Kovatch. He was raised and lived his early years in North Dakota. John served in the Marine Corps. On May 1, 1958 he married Viola Boyer in Moorhead, Minnesota. They made their home in the Fargo-Moorhead area until 1973 when they moved to the Soderville-East Bethel area. John was employed as a trucker and was a member of the Teamsters Union. He was an outdoor person and enjoyed hunting, fishing and going camping. He also enjoyed the casino and country music. He was a military buff and read and studied military history.
John Kovatch, Jr. died October 8, 2012 at Camilia Rose Care Center in Coon Rapids at the age of 76 years, 9 months and 11 days. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Vi; and son Jim.
John is survived by children, Cindy Barton of Andover, Rocky McCloud of Plymouth, Connie (Eric) Erickson of Blaine, Lori (Red) Benjamin of Chilo, Ohio; 6 grandchildren, Damien, Ashley, Josh, Rachel, Sandra and Monique; 7 great-grandchildren, Carson, Layla, Eva, Bradey, Devon, Carter and Amberly; sister, Anna Rose Rivera of Greenville, Michigan; and by many other relatives and friends.
