John L. Richard, age 77, of Isanti died October 3, 2012 at Cambridge Medical Center. Memorial Mass will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, October 5, 2012 at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church in Isanti with Father Jose Edayadiyil as Celebrant. A visiting time will be held one hour prior to the service at church. Interment will be in Fort Snelling National Cemetery.
John Louis Richard was born December 29, 1934 in Ville Platte, Louisiana to Eveton and Odette (McDaniel) Richard. It was there that he was raised and lived his early years. John served in the Air Force during the Korean War and was a fire fighter in the Air Force. On October 6, 1956 he married Shirley Grobove in Minneapolis. They made their home in Spring Lake Park. In 1970 they moved to Isanti where they have since made their home. John was a member of Pipefitters Union 539 and was employed by Landis & Gry Powers in St. Anthony until his retirement. He was a member of St. Elizabeth’s Catholic Church in Isanti and the Knights of Columbus. He was also a member of the Isanti VFW Post and the Cambridge American Legion. John enjoyed golfing, throwing horseshoes and talking politics. He was very politically motivated.
John Richard died unexpectedly on October 3, 2012 at the Cambridge Medical Center at the age of 77 years, 4 months and 4 days. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by 1 sister, Versie Landreau.
John is survived by his wife, Shirley of Isanti; 5 children, Michael (Andrea) Richard of Princeton, Dawn (Jerry) Blomberg of Northeast Minneapolis, Scott (Dawnner) Richard of Princeton, Brian (Kris) Richard of Little Canada, Todd (Jessie) Richard of Bradford; 8 grandchildren; 1 great-granddaughter; 1 brother, Joe (Frankie) Richard of Louisiana; 3 sisters, Marie Jones, Ethel (Bernard) Daire and Una (Aubrey) Thibodeaux all of Louisiana; and by many other relatives and friends.
