Grace Jacobson, age 88, of Cambridge and formerly of Isanti died November 12, 2012 at GracePointe Crossing Gables East. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, November 15th at Faith Lutheran Church in Isanti with Rev. Clifton Hanson officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be in Spring Lake Lutheran Cemetery.
Grace M. Jacobson was born January 23, 1924 in North Branch to Carl and Susan (Stone) Ekelin. She grew up in the Spring Lake Community and attended country school and then the Cambridge schools. She attended Bethesda Nursing Training in St. Paul and became a RN. On July 5, 1947 she married Orvin Jacobson in St. Paul. They lived in St. Paul until 1955 when they moved to a farm in rural Cambridge. In 1977 they moved to an apartment in Isanti. As a youth she was a member of Spring Lake Lutheran Church and later Faith Lutheran Church in Isanti. She loved helping out at Faith Lutheran; ladies aid, bible studies, serving communion to shut-ins, serving funeral lunches and helping out in the office. She worked as a nurse at Cambridge Memorial Hospital, Cambridge State Hospital and Sunshine Villa in Mora. Besides working full time she also helped out on the farm especially at milking time. She enjoyed jigsaw puzzles, cards, reading, doing puzzle books and just having coffee with friends.
Grace Jacobson died November 12, 2012 at GracePointe Crossing Gables East at the age of 88 years, 9 months and 20 days. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her sister, Caroline Freeberg; husband, Orvin; son-in-law, Dennis Shaffer.
Grace is survived by 6 children, Susanne (Gary) Johnson of Cambridge, Linda (Don) Bistadeau of Stanchfield, Elaine Shaffer of Isanti, Mary (Tim) Nelson of Cambridge, Nancy Wiemer of Isanti, James (Kay) Jacobson of Hinckley; 10 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; and by other relatives and friends.
