Marian Janet Bostrom was born in Isanti County on July 23, 1931 to Harley and LaVona (Johnson) Lodien. She was the oldest of three daughters. She attended Blomford County School for grades first through eighth and then went to Cambridge High School, graduating in 1949. Marian went to Bethel College and St. Cloud Teacher College to get her teaching certificate. Marian taught school in Mora, Cambridge and as a substitute teacher for 25 years in the Anoka-Hennepin School District. She accepted Christ as her Savior and joined the South Isanti Baptist Church. Growing up on a farm was a good experience as she learned to take care of cattle and to drive tractors.
On December 18, 1959 she married Don Bostrom at South Isanti Baptist Church and they lived in Cambridge. In 1962 they moved to Ham Lake and have lived there since. In October of 1964, Marian and her family, with five other families, started meeting in our home to start planning to start Ham Lake Baptist Church (now Oak Haven). The church organized in May of 1965 and Marian was a charter member. She also spent many years teaching Sunday School Classes and served on several boards. Marian and Don enjoyed traveling to visit relatives and friends. They were to Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Germany and many of the states in the US and Canada and Mexico. They are the parents of three sons. In 1997 Neil gave his mother “The Gift of Life” – a kidney which lasted her the rest of her life.
Marian went home to be with the Lord on June 7, 2013 at GracePointe Crossing Gables West in Cambridge at the age of 81 years, 10 months and 15 days. She was preceded in death by her parents and Aunt Francis Lodien.
