Ramon “Ray” Salgado, age 87, of Cambridge died July 29, 2013 at home. Funeral services will be held at 7:00 P.M. Monday, August 5th at Strike Funeral Home – Cambridge Chapel. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.
Ramon “Ray” Inigo Salgado was born September 20, 1925 in Tucson, Arizona to Jose and Eloisa (Inigo) Salgado. He was raised in Tucson with his brother Manuel. Ray served his country in the US Navy from 1943 until 1946 and also served in the US Air Force in 1954. While serving in the Navy, he received his World War II Victory Medal. He attended trade school and went on to work in the sheet metal industry. On November 9, 1973 Ray married Debra Amo in Mora. They made their home in Cambridge where Ray worked at Arrow Tank & Engineering for 23 years before retiring in 1993.
Ray’s passion was traveling and seeing the world, he went on many adventures enjoying 18 different cruises over the years. Some of the cruise locations were the Caribbean, the Panama Canal, Aruba, China, Trinidad, Sweden, and Egypt. He loved meeting new people and sharing the memories. Ray also loved his power tools and enjoyed working on the property. He was a familiar face at the local coffee shop where he had his daily dose of double espresso. Ray treasured his time as an “honorary member” of the Perron family, sharing every holiday and special occasion together, making years of special memories.
Ray passed away on July 29, 2013 at his home in Cambridge. He was preceded in death by, his parents Jose and Eloisa, his wife Debbie, and his brother Manuel.
Ray is survived by his four nephews, William (Mary), Randolph, Daniel, and Duane Salgado, all of Tucson, Arizona. He is also survived by the Perron family of Isanti and their extended families.
