Dale Buffington, age 82, of Cambridge died September 10, 2013 at the St. Cloud Hospital. A memorial visitation will be held from 3:00 P.M. until 5:30 P.M. Friday, SEPTEMBER 20th at Strike Funeral Home – Cambridge Chapel before proceeding to Nichols Cemetery near Bradford for a graveside service at 6:00 P.M. Pastor Gary Tonn will officiate. Following the services family and friends will gather at American Jane (Cambridge American Legion) for Dale’s Celebration of life.
Dale Loyd Buffington was born March 25, 1931 in Claremont, South Dakota to Loyd and Violet (Coleman) Buffington. Their family later moved to Dalbo, Minnesota. Dale served his country in the US Marines during the Korean War 1950-1953. After the service Dale moved to Fargo/Moorehead/Georgetown and in 1960 returned to the Dalbo-Cambridge area, West Point on Hwy 47 and worked at Larson’s and Yerigan’s auto body shops until opening his own business, West Point Auto Body. He also worked as an insurance investigator and at Jack Roach Ford in his later working years.
Dale was devoted to serving other veterans and he volunteered at the VA hospitals, VFW, American Legion, 40 & 8, and other military organizations. He was a member of the VFW Post 806 of Princeton, American Legion Post 290 of Cambridge, the Bradford Sportsman’s Club, and a former member of VFW Post 2735 of Isanti.
Dale is survived by four children, Patricia Okafor of Princeton, Rozanna Corgard of Princeton, Michael Buffington of Braham, and Lucinda (Ronald) Monson of Dalbo; one sister, Bonnie (Jerry) Doble of Cambridge; six grandchildren, Tina (Harold Jr) Engberg, Amy Corgard-Weller, Daniel (Cathy) Corgard, Troy Buffington, Justin Monson, and Jill (Michael) Bratvold; eight great-grandchildren, Calvin and Garrett Engberg, Matthew, Mckenna, and Maxael Buffington, Avery and Mallory Bratvold, and Ethan Corgard; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his brother, Thomas Buffington, and granddaughter, Ifeoma Okafor.
