James H. Rahn, age 75, of East Bethel died September 5, 2013 at home. Graveside services will be held at 12:45 PM on Friday, September 20th at Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis, Assembly Area 5.
James Harding Rahn, born June 4, 1938 in Sidney, Montana to John S. and Rena (Harding) Rahn. Upon graduating high school Jim enrolled at Montana State University to study wild life conservation but, feeling restless after 2 years of study, he then enlisted in the U.S. Air Force, serving as a computer technician. Upon discharge from the service in 1962, Jim settled in Minnesota where he worked for the telephone company as an electronic technician and later as a project manager until his retirement. Jim was also interested in politics serving on the East Bethel city council from 1981-1984 and as mayor from 1987 to 1989. In his free time, Jim enjoyed spending time outdoors and had a passion for jeeps which he took off-road and also collected.
James passed away peacefully in his home in East Bethel, Minnesota on Thursday, September 5, 2013 at the age of 75 years, 3 months and 1 day. He was preceded in death by his parents, and his wife of 43 years, Diane (Diedrich) Rahn.
Jim is survived by his four children; Kelly (Ken) Friend, Long Grove, IL; Tim (Linda) Rahn, Sandwich, IL; John (Debbie) Rahn, Medford, MN; Jason (Nikki) Rahn, Andover, MN; 15 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; sister Sylvia (Al) Weinbrenner, Kewaunee, WI; and brother Richard Rahn, Kewaunee, WI.
