Dolores West, age 84 of Cambridge died June 6, 2014 at her home. A memorial service will be held at 2 PM on Wednesday, June 11th at Common Ground United Methodist Church in Cambridge with Rev. Diane Nelson officiating. Friends may gather 1 hour before the service on Wednesday at the church.
Dolores West was born December 12, 1929 in Duluth to Michael and Stella (Kapa) Diklich. She was raised in Goodland, Minnesota and graduated from Nashwauk High School. Soon after graduation she moved to the Twin Cities and worked at Twin City Arsenal. Dolores met the man of her dreams, Wheeler West, and they were married on May 22, 1954. They made their home in Cambridge. Dolores worked at Control Data for over 20 years. She was a long time member of Common Ground United Methodist Church in Cambridge. Dolores enjoyed watching sporting events of all kinds, Twins, Vikings and Timberwolves. She also enjoyed bowling for many years. Dolores was a great caregiver, taking care of her parents and husband when they were ill. She always made sure that everyone was taken care of. She was the organizer and glue that kept everything together. Her son’s friends all called her Ma West and Dolores took great pride in that.
Dolores died June 6, 2014 at her home at the age of 84 years, 5 months and 25 days.
Dolores is survived by two sons, Brian (Lori) West of Medina and Craig (Laurie) West of Duluth; seven grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; sister, Doris Warner of Auburn, Washington; and by many other relatives and friends.
