Richard Edward Williams, age 88, of Stacy died September 28, 2014 at GracePointe Crossing Gables West. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Thursday, October 2nd at Country Roads Church in Stacy with Rev. Gary Bawden officiating. A visitation will be held from 5:00 – 7:00 P.M. Wednesday, October 1st at Strike Funeral Home – Isanti Chapel and also one hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday. Interment will be in Atna Cemetery with Military Honors by Isanti VFW Post 2735.
Richard Edward Williams was born March 24, 1926 at Long Prairie, Minnesota to Chelsey and Victoria (Kiselewski) Williams. He was raised and attended school in Clarissa, Minnesota. He honorably served in the 63rd Infantry Division and was on the front lines in Germany and France. He received the Bronze Star and other medals of honor. On September 2, 1950 he married Iris Bentz at Browerville. They made their home in Browerville a short time before moving to Minneapolis where Richard worked as a machinist. In 1968 they moved to Stacy where he also farmed. Richard enjoyed fishing, hunting and gardening. He loved wildlife, watching the ducks on the pond and birds of all kinds, and spending time with family and friends. Richard was a member of the Disabled American Veterans and the American Legion.
Richard Williams passed away September 28, 2014 at GracePointe Crossing Gables West at the age of 88 years, 6 months and 4 days. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by one son, Lawrence Williams; and two brothers, Bill and Bob Williams.
He will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Iris; son, Roger Williams of Stacy; daughter, Patty Copley of LaHonda, California; seven grandchildren, Stephanie, Travis, Derek, Darci, Shauna, Angie and Greg; seventeen great-grandchildren, Willow, James, Dante, Savanah, Elle, Quinn, Wren, Kaelee, Louella, Larry, Koby, Braedon, Josh, Max, Sammie, Jack and Jason; and by many other relatives and friends.
