Roy Rundquist, age 90, of Anoka, formerly of Blaine, died November 9, 2014 at Mercy Hospital in Coon Rapids. Funeral services will be at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, November 18th at Strike Funeral Home – Isanti Chapel with Rev. Sherree Lane officiating. Visitation will be 1 hour prior. Interment will be in Atna Cemetery.
Roy Daniel Rundquist was born September 4, 1924 in Minneapolis to Daniel and Maria (Eliason) Rundquist. He lived his early years in Minneapolis and then the family moved to Isanti County. Roy attended school in Minneapolis, Braham and he graduated from Cambridge High School, Class of 1943. Roy then served in the Army Air Corps during World War II. He became a fighter pilot flying P51’s. After his military service he came back to Minnesota. Roy married Elenore Larson on July 3, 1947 at Elim Baptist Church in Isanti. They made their home in the Twin Cities and then in 1950 they purchased a home in Blaine. They lived in Blaine until moving to assisted living/nursing home in Anoka about three years ago. Roy was an active member for several years at Spring Lake Baptist Church and worked with the boy’s club. He volunteered in many ways, including ushering at Billy Graham Crusades and Meals on Wheels. Roy was a member of the Disabled Veterans Organization, NRA, EAA and the Pipefitters Union. His hobbies and interests included bow hunting, model airplanes, genealogy, reading and wood carving.
Roy is survived by his wife, Elenore of Anoka; 2 sons, Daniel (JoAnne) Rundquist of Anoka, Kevin (Eileen) Rundquist of Anoka; 5 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; and by many other relatives and friends.
