Richard Joseph Kokesh, age 81, of Isanti died December 14, 2014 at home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 A.M. Thursday, December 18th at St. Elizatbeth Ann Seton Catholic Church in Isanti with Fr. Don Wagner as Celebrant. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the Mass on Thursday at the church. Interment will be in Ft. Snelling National Cemetery.
Richard Kokesh of Isanti passed away at home on Sunday, December 14, 2014 at the age of 81. Richard “Dick” Kokesh was born August 23, 1933 in Minneapolis, Minnesota to George and Sylvia (Cecka) Kokesh. He graduated from De La Salle High School of Minneapolis in 1951, was drafted into the Army in 1953 and was stationed in Linz, Austria for the end of the Korean War. He then worked at Turnquist Paper Company for 45 years.
Richard married Marguerite “Mick” Boye on July 7, 1956 and had one son. They were founding members of the St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church in Isanti. Mick and Dick enjoyed many years after retirement wintering in the warm states of Texas, Arizona and Nevada.
Richard enjoyed warm weather, planting dahlias, raising Newfoundland dogs and watching the wildlife outside his window at home. He will be remembered as a gentle, quiet man who always had a wink and a smile for his grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Marguerite. He is survived by his son, William (Kathy) Kokesh of Cambridge; grandchildren, Bridget (Dave) Olson of Cambridge, Kyle Kokesh of Winter Garden, FL, Heather Kokesh of Cambridge; great-grandson, Orion Olson; and by many other relatives and friends.
