Eleanor Kolkind, age 86, of Cambridge and formerly of Isanti and New Brighton, died July 11, 2015 at GracePointe Crossing Gables West. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Friday, July 17th at Long Lake Lutheran Church in Isanti with Rev. Matt Flom officiating. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be in Long Lake Community Cemetery.
Eleanor Alice Kolkind was born May 24, 1929 at home in Roseglen, North Dakota to Chris and Thea (Wibstad) Halvorson. She grew up and attended school in Roseglen. On July 8, 1948 she married Alvin Kolkind in Evansville, Minnesota and they had four children. Eleanor loved antique furniture and was very skilled at buying, repairing and reselling them. For many years she ran a business out of her home called Eleanor’s Antiques. She also enjoyed going to auction sales and fishing with her husband.
Eleanor is survived by two sons, Andy (DeDe) Kolkind of Dalbo, Jerry Kolkind of Eagan; one daughter, Virginia Ingeldew of St. Francis; one brother, Curtis Halvorson of Fargo; 8 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren and several great-great-grandchildren; and by other relatives and friends.
Eleanor passed away July 11, 2015 at GracePointe Crossing Care Center in Cambridge at the age of 86 years, 1 month and 17 days. Besides her parents and siblings, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Ellen Bollig, in 1984, and her husband, Alvin, in 1993.
