Frederick M. Reetz, age 80, of St. Francis died peacefully July 24, 2015 at home. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 P.M. Sunday, August 2nd at Long Lake Lutheran Church in Isanti. A time for visiting will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be in Fort Snelling National Cemetery.
Frederick Monroe Reetz was born June 13, 1935 at Royal Oak, Michigan to Edward and Dorothy (Zettel) Reetz. He grew up in Pleasant Ridge, Michigan and graduated from St. Mary’s High School in Royal Oak. Frederick then attended the University of Detroit. In August of 1958 he was drafted into the US Army. Frederick was united in marriage to Lillian Smith on October 25, 1958 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Royal Oak, Michigan. They raised their family in various cities in the Midwest and made their home in Minnesota since 1974. Frederick worked the majority of his career in sales and marketing. In his retirement years Fred drove school bus in Champlain and in St. Francis. He was very involved in church, most recently at Long Lake Lutheran Church, serving in the choir, church council, and several committees. His hobbies included painting, hunting, fishing, gardening and he had a lifelong love of singing.
Frederick passed away peacefully July 24, 2015 at home at the age of 80 years 1 month and 11 days. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by one sister, Edith Kripli.
He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Lillian; two sons, Stephen (Kristine) Reetz of Sartell, David (Heather) Reetz of Edina; daughter, Krista (Bill) Thorburn of Edina; two sisters, Mary Lou Smith of Grosse Pointe Farms, MI, Patricia Van Buhler of Rochester, MI; 6 grandchildren, Taylor, Max, Paige, Aubrey, Amber and Rachel; and by many other relatives and friends.
