Betty Johnson, age 88 of Cambridge died August 11, 2015 at The Haven House in Cambridge. Memorial services will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, August 22nd at our Cambridge Chapel with Pastor C.J. Valenti officiating. A visiting time will be held 1 hr prior. Interment will be in Kenneth Lutheran Cemetery.
Betty Jane (Jaqua) Johnson was born to Raymond and Marie Jaqua on March 22, 1927 in Woodstock, Minnesota. She grew up and attended school in the Pipestone area. On October 15 1946, she was united in marriage to Raymond Johnson in Holland, Minnesota and to this union 6 children were born. They lived in several different communities in southern Minnesota before moving to Cambridge in 1972. Betty was a cook for several years at the Cambridge Hospital until she retired in 1979. After retirement they moved north, to Giese and Sandstone, where their grandchildren loved spending time on the farms and many memories with them were made.
After the passing of her husband in 1998, she moved back to the Cambridge community. Betty loved to socialize and she loved helping others. She took great pleasure in the many many hours of volunteering at Cambridge Health Care Center/Gracepointe Crossing. Along with spending time with her family and friends, she enjoyed baking, reading, playing cards and bingo. Betty was also a long time member of Salem Lutheran Church in Dalbo.
Betty passed away peacefully on August 11, 2015 at the Haven House, where she had resided for the past 4 years, at the age of 88 years, 4 months and 20 days. She was preceded in death by her husband Raymond, 3 sons; Gerald, Gordon and David, 3 brothers and 3 sisters.
She will be deeply missed by her children; Roger (Mary) Johnson of Hawarden, Iowa, Brian (Lori) Johnson of Braham, Renee (Ron Dirckx) Johnson of Montevideo, 11 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-granddaughter, brother Glen Jaqua of Sioux City, Iowa, sister-in-law’s; Viola Bruxvoort of Worthington, Bonnie Zinnel of Reading, brother-in-law’s; Bob Hess of McGregor, Duane Bowen of Black River Falls Wisconsin, along with many nieces, nephews and friends.
