Norma J. Benny, age 87, of Cambridge died November 18, 2015 at Cambridge Medical Center. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Monday, NOVEMBER 30th at Strike Funeral Home – Cambridge Chapel. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at Gethsemane Cemetery in New Hope.
Norma Jean Benny was born May 30, 1928 in Pana, Illinois to Ignace and Grace (Johnson) Fischer. During the war their family moved to Minnesota where Ignace worked for FMC. Norma graduated from Robbinsdale High School in 1946. On August 10, 1952, she married Donald Benny and they made their home in NE Minneapolis. They were blessed with two children, Jeff and Julie.
Norma had a great love of family. She ensured that the family connection and focus was always there. She also was instrumental in many roles with the Benny Machine Co. and the other family businesses over the years. Norma enjoyed playing games, especially Scrabble. Skilled with words, she almost always won – it was news if she ever lost! She was a dear mother, sister and friend, and will be greatly missed.
Norma passed away November 18, 2015, at Cambridge Medical Center at the age of 87 years, 5 months and 19 days. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Don; daughter, Julie; two sisters, Mary Woosley and Betty Shores; sister-in-law, Loretta Fischer; and brothers-in-law, Ron Shores, Joe Woosley and Bill Crabtree. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Jeff and Kim; grandson, Ty; three sisters, Rita (Dave) Bret, Joyce (Adrian) Lewis and Frances “Roberta” Crabtree; brother, George Fischer; and by other relatives and friends.
