Mark Springstead, age 64, of North Branch died March 1, 2016 at Universty of Minnesota Medical Center. A memorial visitation will be held from 2:00 PM – 6:00 PM on Saturday, March 12th at Strike Funeral Home – Cambridge Chapel. Interment will be in Fort Snelling National Cemetery.
Mark Allen Springstead was born December 27, 1951 in Bowling Green, Ohio. He was very proud to serve his country. He joined the Army and was an Airborne Ranger 173rd in Vietnam. While in the military he earned many awards and medals of honor and was a wounded combat veteran. He took pride in being a marksman.
Mark was an over the road truck driver for many years and was able to travel to all parts of the country. He enjoyed hunting, gardening, and being outdoors. Mark loved animals, especially dogs. He was an avid movie watcher and had a large library to choose from.
Mark loved being a father and grandfather. Family was the most important thing to him. He was very generous and would be there to help anyone, no matter what. He was surrounded by many wonderful family and friends and a very special “Angel.”
Mark died March 1, 2016 at University of Minnesota Medical Center at the age of 64 years, 2 months and 3 days. He was preceded in death by 3 siblings. Mark is survived by wife, Sandy; his children, Brandy, Jesse, Arlo, Shawn, James, Josh; many grandchildren; father, Richard; 7 siblings; best friend, Greg; and by many other family and friends.
