Fredrik Carl Holte, age 65, of Harris passed away unexpectedly at home September 9, 2017. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Thursday, September 14th at Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church in Cambridge. A time for visiting will be held one hour prior to the service at church. Fredrik is survived by his wife, Bonnie and son, Jon.
Fredrik Carl Holte was born October 12, 1951 in Minneapolis, Minnesota to Asbjorn and Margaret (Pedersen) Holte. He was raised and attended school in Roseville and graduated in 1969 from Ramsey High School. Fred worked at the Department of Agriculture as a bee inspector where he met his wife, Bonnie Rechtzigel. Fred and Bonnie were married August 30, 1980. In 1984 Fred and Bonnie moved to Harris, Minnesota and in 1985 were blessed with the birth of their son, Jon. Fred was a third generation beekeeper and an avid fan of hockey.
Fred was involved in many organizations and in the community. Fred was a member of the Minnesota Honey Producers Association, and was a board member for over 30 years, serving as President twice. Fred was also a member of Sioux Honey Association for over 40 years. He was also a member of the American Beekeeping Federation for over 40 years. He worked and managed the Bee & Honey booth at the Minnesota State Fair for many years.
There were two seasons in Fred’s life honey and hockey. He was very involved with hockey. He was a board member of the Cambridge-Isanti Arena Corp and served as President for over a decade. Fred was the Public Address announcer for Blue Jacket hockey from 2000 to 2016. Further, he was a team manager and coach for various youth hockey teams.
Fred passed away September 9, 2017 at home at the age of 65 years, 10 months and 28 days. He is survived by his wife, Bonnie; son, Jon and many friends.
