Georgene E. Johnson, age 76, of Cambridge died November 12, 2019 at Birchwood Health Care Center in Forest Lake. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM Monday, November 18th at Long Lake Lutheran Church in Isanti. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the funeral Monday at the church. Interment will be in Egelund Lutheran Cemetery, Holmesville Township, MN.
Georgene Elizabeth Johnson was born July 19, 1943 in Minneapolis, Minnesota to Robert “Bob” and Dorothy (Bates) Asp. She grew up in Minneapolis and Excelsior and graduated from Minnetonka High School in 1961. On May 7, 1977 Georgene married Alton “Dick” Johnson. They made their home in Coon Rapids and then in St. Francis. She worked in bookkeeping at Target for several years and she also was a realtor. After Dick passed away in 2012, Georgene moved to Cambridge.
Georgene was always positive, the life of the party, and she made the best of everything energetically. She loved to laugh and for others to laugh as well. She always believed in never giving up, she was a fighter and feisty always. Georgene loved family functions, singing, camping, road trips, and going to the Hinckley casino. She was also very creative and artistic and she enjoyed drawing, painting, quilting and crafting. She was also a huge Minnesota Vikings fan. She lived life to the fullest and will be dearly missed.
Georgene died November 12, 2019 at Birchwood Health Care Center in Forest Lake at the age of 76 years, 3 months and 24 days. She was preceded in death by her parents, Bob and Dorothy Asp; husband, Alton R. Johnson; and brother, Bob “Bobo” Asp, Jr.
She will be lovingly remembered by her three children, Deanna Hartman, Tracy (Glen) Grell, and Jeffrey (Stephanie) Koppendrayer; ten siblings, Marilyn (Butch) Kelzer, Chuck (Marcia) Asp, Bev (Merlin) Koppendrayer, Andrew Asp (Jan Kincade), Bonnie (Gary) Rasmussen, Scott Asp, Kimberly Smith, Geraldine (Brad) Johnson, Bill (Jackie) Asp, and Barbara Asp; 5 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, and by many other relatives and friends.
