Irene Mary DeLong, age 92, of Isanti passed away March 12, 2020 at Fairview Hospital in Wyoming. A visitation will be held from 5:00 P.M. – 7:00 P.M. Thursday, March 19th at Strike Life Tributes in Isanti. A family graveside service will be held at Fort Snelling National Cemetery.
Irene Mary DeLong was born April 15, 1927 in St. Paul, Minnesota to Harry and Avis (Kingsley) England. She was a baker’s daughter and learned how to bake from her parents who specialized in wedding cakes. Her childhood was spent in St. Paul. On October 6, 1945 Irene married Donald J. DeLong after he returned injured from serving in the US Navy during WWII. They started their family in Minneapolis and then moved to Bloomington in 1957. Irene focused on her family and was also active bowling and golfing. She also enjoyed knitting and collecting bells. Twenty years ago she moved to Isanti to be with and near family.
Irene passed away March 12, 2020 at Fairview Hospital in Wyoming at the age of 92 years, 10 months and 26 days. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her three sisters, Beatrice Katzenmaier, Lorraine Horn and Betty Swanson; and two grandchildren, Kristen and Kenneth.
She is survived by five children, Dean DeLong, Dennis (Joy) DeLong, Donald DeLong; Dianna (Larry) Koepke, and Dorene (Kerry) Bartz; 5 grandchildren, Kelli, Dina, Kristina, Tawna, and Nick (Ashley); 10 great-grandchildren, Kristen (Cyrus), Elizabeth, Madison, Kaleb, Haley, Elijah, Rosie, Dustin, Devon and Eleanor; 2 great-great-grandchildren, Kierra and Caleb; and by other relatives and friends.
