Ronald Braastad, age 87, of Cedar died unexpectedly July 5, 2022. A Memorial Service will be held at 5:00 P.M. on Wednesday, July 13th at Cedar United Methodist Church, 17541 Jefferson Street NE, Ham Lake, with a time for visiting one hour prior to the service at the church.
Ronald Nordean Braastad was born November 18, 1934 in Blue Earth, MN to Archie & Seraphine (Frandle) Braastad. The family of 8 moved to Cedar, MN in 1948 where he attended & graduated from St. Francis in 1954. Ron enlisted in the Army in 1955 & was based at Fort Crowder, MO where he met Shirley Ann Lynn. They married in 1958 & lived in Anoka where he worked at Federal Cartridge. In 1971 they built the family homestead in Cedar where Ron lived until he passed.
Ron & Shirley owned and operated several businesses. Soderville Hardware Store was purchased in 1970, Central Garage & Towing in 1979, Lynn’s Grocery & Gas in 1983 as well as the Soderville Café in 1987. Ron enjoyed auctions, garage sales, church & socializing with customers, neighbors and friends.
Ron died July 5, 2022. He is preceded in death by his loving wife of 62 years, Shirley; siblings Angeline, Kenneth, Howard & Harold. Survived by their sons Dan (Kim), Randy (Deanna), David (Tara) & Jason; grandchildren Samantha, Mariah, Kyle & Patrick; great-grandchildren Cameron & MaKenna; sister Marlene Atkins.
