Paul Arthur Hanson, age 89, of Cambridge died December 5, 2022 at GracePointe Crossing in Cambridge. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, December 10th at Strike Life Tributes in Cambridge. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Burial will take place next week at Fort Snelling National Cemetery.
Paul Arthur Hanson, 89, born January 23, 1933 in Alexandria, MN to Harold Severin Hanson born February 26, 1901 and Florence Harriet (Foslein) Hanson born November 26, 1908. His step mom, Arvie Bylund Hanson raised him since he was 12 years old. Paul is survived by his wife of 70 years, Gwendolyn (Gwen) Hanson, sons: Randahl (Randy) Hanson (Sheila), Terry Hanson (Linda), daughters: Deborah (Deb) Lane (Jim), Paula Galbrecht (Dave). Grandchildren: Christopher (Chris) Hanson (Steph), Michael (Mike) Hanson, Dennis Lane (Leah), Angela (Angie) Hanson, Matthew Lane, Mark Hanson, Melissa Brownell (Jeremy), Grace Galbrecht, and Mitchell (Mitch) Galbrecht. Great grandchildren: Conner Hanson, Leighton Brownell, Olivia Lane, Lila Brownell, Avery Brownell, and Gavin Hanson. His brother Bruce Hanson of Lino Lakes, sisters Jan Laumb, and Deanna Deal of Arizona. Also, numerous nephews, nieces, and cousins
Paul and Gwen were married in 1952 while Paul was serving in the Air Force primarily stationed in Victorville, CA. where their two sons were born. Upon leaving the service, Paul and Gwen moved back to Minnesota and took residence in Brooklyn Center where their two daughters were born. Paul became a truck driver working for Berger Transfer, then moved on to Twin City Freight. After the birth of their second daughter Paul and Gwen moved to North Minneapolis then 16 years later to Coon Rapids where they resided until 2018 when they moved to Cambridge, MN.
Paul was an accomplished guitar player and singer. In his younger days he played in a band in the Minneapolis area. Paul was an avid fisherman and hunter.
