Jo Ann “Penny” Marie Golden, age 81, of Isanti died September 30, 2023 at home. A Memorial Mass will be held at 11:00 A.M. Friday, NOVEMBER 3rd at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church in Isanti. A time for visiting will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be in Isanti Union Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred to Isanti County Cancer Crusaders.
Jo Ann Marie Golden was born September 28, 1942 in Superior, Wisconsin to Edward and Joann (Kis) Stack. She was raised and attended school in Superior and earned her bachelor’s degree in secondary education at the Wisconsin State University of Superior. On June 15, 1963 she married Gerald Lee Golden in Carlton, Minnesota. They lived in Superior, Silver Bay, Fort Collins, Colorado, Coon Rapids, Colorado Springs and then Isanti after retirement. Jo Ann was always involved in the community. She volunteered at schools and churches, was involved in Junior League, church choirs, and community theaters. She loved the theater and won an award for her performance of the witch in Hansel and Gretel. Jo Ann also loved to travel. She and Gerald visited all 50 states, most provinces of Canada, all continents except Antarctica, but she got close and she took many road trips with her family.
Jo Ann died September 30, 2023 at home at the age of 81 years. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by a sister-in-law, Kathy Stack.
She will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 60 years, Gerald; three children, Gerald E. (Amanda) Golden, Claudia (Brian) Burville, and Joseph (Gloriann) Golden; two brothers, Edward Stack III, and John (Debbie) Stack; one sister, Claudia (David) Kremer; 7 grandchildren, 2 step-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
