Roy Engstrom, age 90, of Cambridge and formerly of Isanti, went to be with Jesus November 1, 2023. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, November 4th at Strike Life Tributes in Isanti. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in Strike Cemetery with Military Honors provided by Isanti VFW Post 2735.
Roy was born October 4, 1933 in Minneapolis, Minnesota to Eric and Anna (Limbo) Engstrom. He grew up and attended school in Anoka. Roy met Jan Woolery and he asked her to marry him on their first date. They were married January 15, 1955 at Constance Evangelical Free Church. Roy was serving in the Army and they made their first home in Kileen, Texas. Shortly after Roy’s Honorable Discharge they moved to Isanti, where they lived until moving to GracePointe in 2013. They were active members at Elim Baptist Church while living in Isanti. Roy enjoyed bee keeping, taking care of his dogs, snowmobiling, fishing, gardening, and being out in the woods either cutting wood or hunting. The only rule was if you shoot it you had to eat it, which took the fun out of squirrel hunting. Most of all he loved spending time with his family and especially the grandchildren. Roy was always teasing and cracking a joke, with a twinkle in his eyes. He will be dearly missed.
He is survived by four children, Michael (Jean) Engstrom of Altus, AR, Thomas Engstrom of Cassville, MO, Penni (Stan) Skaggs of Isanti, Traci (Dave) Chilton of Ozark, AR; 11 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, sister-in-law, Gladys Engstrom, and other relatives and friends. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Jan; and four siblings, Ells, Lawrence, George and Ruth.
