Roger was born February 28, 1948, in Robbinsdale, MN to Goody and Helen Johnson. From his parents’ union, Roger was blessed with siblings John, Delilah, Jerry, Janice and Edwin.
Roger was loved by many. He was always happy go lucky, up for a laugh, and cared for countless others with his generous heart. He worked many years as a diesel mechanic for Al Johnson trucking, and later in life as a member of US water services in Cambridge. Roger never shied away from hard work and would always lend a hand to whomever needed it. Roger enjoyed his leisure activities such as watching Nascar racing, tinkering in his pole barn, yard work and watching “birdies” at his bird feeder. Roger’s sense of humor was always a bright spot with all who knew him, along with his deep sympathetic nature and willingness to be a friend to whomever needed it. In 2015 he suffered a massive stroke, but survived as he was always a fighter at heart. Through many medical challenges and setbacks, he always managed to still give us a smile despite all he was enduring.
To say he will be missed by many, is an understatement.
An exceptional thanks from our family is extended to his care team at United Pioneer home staff and his special team of Angela, Tiffany, Sandy, Destiny and the countless other team members that showed such care, love, compassion, support and expertise that was such an important part of our lives and especially to his wife, Bonnie who oversaw it all.
