Janice Eileen Bergerson, age 76, of Isanti, MN, passed away peacefully on Monday, January 20, 2025, at Crestview Senior Living Community in Blaine, MN. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, January 29, 2025, at 11:00 AM at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church in Isanti, with Father Peter Vanderweyst officiating. Graveside services will be held at St. Pius X Cemetery in Zimmerman, MN, following the luncheon.
Jan was born on March 2, 1948, in Grand Forks, North Dakota, to Oscar and Magdalene Gustafson. She attended LaPorte High School through 10th grade before leaving to care for her ailing mother. She completed high school through the GED program.
Jan married her first husband, Jack, and together they had three children and adopted a fourth. She began working at the local Ben Franklin store in Coon Rapids, MN, a short distance from her home, where she worked for many years. In 1986, as a single mother raising four children, Jan began working at Menards, where she met the love of her life, Steve “Bergie” Bergerson. The couple married in 1990 and enjoyed 10 wonderful years together until Steve’s passing from cancer in 2001.
Jan continued to work at Menards, retiring in 2013 after 26 years of dedicated service. Over the years, she lived in Champlin, Zimmerman, Pillager, and Isanti. In January 2024, she moved to Crestview Senior Living in Blaine.
Jan was a devoted member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church. She cherished spending time with her family, reading her devotions daily, and her weekly shopping excursions with her sister. Her beloved dogs, Koko and Spanky, and Kitty, Quinn, were her constant companions and brought her immense joy. Her famous banana bread became a staple at every deer hunting trip, and no one ever left her home hungry, a testament to her love and care for those around her.
Jan was preceded in death by her parents, Oscar and Magdalene Gustafson; and her husbands, Steve and Jack.
She is survived by her four children, Ray (Callie), Bridgette (Robert), Steve (Dee), and Jessica; 10 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; her sister, Joy; brothers, Gary, Virgil, and Darel; and many other beloved family members and friends.
