
Karen Loraine (Deskin) Boylan, 82, a mother, sister, grandmother and aunt peacefully passed away on January 19, 2025, after a short illness, surrounded by her family. A celebration of Karen’s life will be held on February 2, 2025, from 12pm to 4pm at Rushseba Town Hall in Rush City, MN. 51533 Forest Blvd., Rush City, MN 55069. We will have a luncheon and are hoping to hear many stories and memories of Karen. She will greatly be missed.
Karen was born on May 24, 1942 in Rice Lake WI. In 1952 she moved to White Bear Lake, Minnesota. She spent most of her childhood near White Bear Lake and Forest Lake area and graduated from Forest Lake high school. Shortly after graduation, Karen met and married Paul Boylan. Paul and Karen had 2 boys, James and Carl. Karen raised her 2 boys on Navy military bases while Paul served. When the boys became adults, Paul and Karen moved to Florida to live on a sailboat for a couple of years. Karen worked as an LPN while in Florida. Paul and Karen divorced shortly after and Karen moved back to Minnesota. Karen bought her own house in Isanti, MN, near her mother Hattie Deskins. Karen assisted her mother, Hattie in living an independent life near her, in her own home until Hattie passed away unexpectedly in 2008. Karen made a career at Mary T Residential Services in Coon Rapids, MN. Karen was active in Tops Club Inc, holding the position of secretary and weight recorder for many years. Karen was always a strong, independent caregiver.
As a mother of two, grandmother, aunt, great grandmother of several; Karen enjoyed watching all the children grow. She also enjoyed spending time with her beloved dog, CheeChee, bird watching, crocheting, needle point and playing video games with Alex.
Karen is survived by her children James (Crystal) Boylan and Carl (Laurie) Boylan and their children, James children: Tonya, Kelly and Karla and Carl’s children: Dallie (Alissa), Marcus (Corinne), Mollee and Alex. Karen is also survived by her sister, Donna and her children Michael (Anne), Kia, Jim, Laura (Dan) and several grand nieces and nephews. Karen also adored her niece, Pamela and husband, Mark. Karen also has numerous other cousins, nieces and nephews.
Karen is preceded in death by her mother Hattie Deskin, father Rinal Deskin and bothers, Larry and Roger Deskin.
