
James O. Turnquist, age 74, loving husband and father passed away at home April 16, 2025. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM Friday, April 25th at Strike Life Tributes in CAMBRIDGE. A visiting time will be held from Noon until the service starts at 2:00 PM.
James Oliver Turnquist was born in Princeton, Minnesota to Oliver and Hilda Turnquist (Krause). He grew up in Cambridge, Minnesota. In 1971 he was drafted in the Army and spent a year and a half in Germany. In 1977 James married Susan Bayer and they had two daughters, Madeline & Emma. Both girls arrived on Christmas day three years apart and are considered Christmas presents from heaven. James worked for 40 years at Onan’s / Cummins in Fridley, Minnesota. James was an avid outdoorsman and just appreciated a day outside even if no deer walked by his stand, or the fish didn’t bite.
James passed away at home on April 16, 2025. He is preceded in death by his parents, Oliver and Hilda Turnquist, his cousin, David Brown, his mother-in-law, Marion Bayer, his father-in-law, William Bayer, and his sister-in-law, Mary Bayer.
He is lovingly remembered by his wife, Susan and his two daughters, Madeline Turnquist Olson (Blair) of Bemidji, MN and Emma Anlauf (Mitch) of Rush Lake, MN. His brothers, Jerry Turnquist, and Brandy Thomson, Mike and Lisa Turnquist, Bob and Joni Turnquist. His uncle, Arvin Krause, and his aunt, Joann Brown, and many nieces and nephews. He was blessed with five grandchildren Piper, Jaida, Crew, Palmer, and Peter.
