Craig George Barr was born August 18, 1936 at Bemidji, Minnesota to George and Lois (Findley) Barr. He married Marlys Larson on June 30, 1957 and they were the parents of two children; Ellen Barr of Andover and Bryan Barr, (Debbie) of Isanti. They lived in Bemidji until 1967 when they moved to Isanti and Craig began a thirty-four year career teaching elementary school in the St. Francis school system.
He is survived by his wife of 68 years, his children, two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
I was in Mr. Barr’s first class in Bethel. He took over our 6th grade class about halfway through the year, which would have been early 1967. I remember him as good, caring teacher. We must have studied Geography that second half since one memory from that year was a test where one question was What part of the US is Minnesota located? I answered Northwest and it was marked wrong. He said the answer was North Central. I argued that we had Northwest Airlines, Northwestern National Bank and Northwestern Mutual Insurance, etc.. He relented and gave me credit for the answer.
