
Richard Ralph Popp, age 85, of North Branch passed away unexpectedly March 7, 2026 in Minneapolis. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday, March 12th at St. Gregory The Great Catholic Church in North Branch. A visitation will be held from 9:30 AM until the service Thursday at the church. Interment will be in Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery in Little Falls.
Richard Ralph Popp was born March 23, 1940, in Morrill Township, Morrison County, Minnesota, to Clarence and Clara (Pekarek) Popp. He grew up on a farm near Rice, Minnesota and graduated from Foley High School in 1957. Richard served his country in the U.S. Army from 1959 – 1962. On June 8, 1968, he married JoAnn Duea at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Rice. In the early years they lived in Columbia Heights and then moved to Isanti. Richard worked as a machinist at FMC-BAE for 36 years. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends, especially the get-togethers with his brothers and sisters. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening.
Richard passed away unexpectedly March 7, 2026 at the age of 85 years. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Joyce Popp.
He will be lovingly remembered by his wife, JoAnn; his children, Christine (Todd) Larkin, Matthew (Amy) Popp, Eric (Kathy) Popp and Kathryn Olson; siblings, Donna Deering, Leonard (Jackie) Popp, Dorothy Sweet, Jan (Charlie) Anderson, Marlene (Lee) Miller, Betty (Joe) Legatt, and Jerry (Sue) Popp; granddaughters, Sydney, Elle, Payton, Grace, Audrey, McKinley, and Emma; and great-grandchildren, Larkin and Shepherd in addition to many other relatives and friends.
