Dwight Jones, age 85 of Isanti, better known as “Dude”, passed away peacefully at his home on Sunday, April 22, 2007. His whole family was by his side. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday, April 24th at West Bethel United Methodist Church with Rev. Jim McChesney officiating. A visitation will be held 1 hour prior to the service at the church.
Dude was born to Harold and Thelma Jones on December 2, 1921 in Minneapolis, Minnesota. He lived most of his childhood years in the Bethel area. He met and married Dorothy Henrikson in 1944. They lived in Bethel the first part of their married life and then moved to Wisconsin for approximately ten years because of Dude’s job. They were married for 62 years.
Dude drove truck for Advance United for many years. He retired on June 3, 1975. He loved to hunt and fish. He went on many hunting and fishing adventures with friends and sons. The last several years he spent hunting deer on his son’s land riding his 4-wheeler. He shot a nice buck the last year he hunted of which he was really proud.
Dude had a sharp wit, excellent memory, and was a great story-teller.
He is preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Clifford and Loring Jones. He has one sister, Lorraine and her husband George Ravness of Bethel.
Dude and Dorothy have 5 children. A daughter, Kathy, and husband Harold Steenerson of Bethel. Four son’s, Bill and friend Vicky of St. Francis, Robert and wife Judy of St. Francis, Roger and wife Tammy of Oak Grove, and Russell and wife Lynda of Harris. They also have 11 grandchildren and 12-great-grandchildren.
