Robert M. Torgeson, age 70, of Braham passed away Friday, April 27, 2007 at his home. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday, May 2nd at Strike Funeral Home – Cambridge Chapel with Mr. Jim Servidio officiating. A visitation will be held from 4:00-8:00 P.M. on Tuesday, May 1st at Strike’s funeral home in Cambridge.
Robert Miles Torgeson was born July 30, 1936 in Minneapolis to Oscar and Marie Torgeson. He was raised in New Brighton and graduated from Mounds View High School. In 1957 he married Janice Waller and they lived in Minneapolis for a short time and then moved to Chicago. Robert was a commercial window cleaner in Chicago. On May 9, 1970 he married Linda Daproza in Illinois. In 1973 they moved to Braham. He was self employed with his sons as commercial window washers. Robert loved his family and all of the family activities. He also enjoyed hobby farming and gardening. He was a charitable person and loved doing things for others. Robert was a member of the United Church of God IA. He fought a courageous battle with cancer for two-and-a-half years and still continued to think of others instead of himself. He had a strong faith in God and knew there was a reason he had to suffer. Robert will be deeply missed by family and friends. He was loved by all and was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend.
Besides his parents he was preceded in death by 1 son, Merton; 4 brothers, Ernest, Merton, John and Daniel. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Linda of Braham; 2 children, Justine Schindeldecker of Coon Rapids, Mikeael (Sheila) Torgeson of Brook Park; 10grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; 2 brothers, Ted Torgeson of Hosmer, South Dakota, Mike (Judy) Torgeson of Braham; 4 sisters, Betty Macias and Mary Fernandez both of San Diego, California, Myrna Demaio of St. Paul, Madeline (Kermit) Folden of Dalbo; mother and father-in-law, Leo and June Daproza of Braham; many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
